It has already been a busy couple of weeks back to school. The 100th day is just around the corner. In Kindergarten, we read books about animals in winter and how they survive the cold weather. This week we are reading about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and thinking of ways to show peace to one another. We are drawing pictures on the iPads of our favorite way to be peaceful.
First graders came back to school with one of our favorite books this year. We read Sam and Dave Dug a Hole. They loved seeing what Sam and Dave were just missing under the ground.
This week we are reading about Theodore Roosevelt as a child in You're on Your Way Teddy Roosevelt. It is great to see how hard work and perseverance paid off for this great president. Since Teddy Roosevelt loved animals and preserving national land, we finish the lesson visiting different National Parks through the internet and onsite cams. We have been able to see Old Faithful and bears, bison and eagles.
Fourth grade has been learning how to start researching. We have done a really fun online encyclopedia scavenger hunt and explored Mackin Via.
It has been a great start to the new year.
