December has been a busy month.
I have spent a lot of time working with the intermediate grades with research. We have talked about finding good print and non print resources. Mackin Via has been a great resource. We have learned the importance of using our own words and not copying other people's words. Fifth graders have been beginning to work with bibliographies.
Here are some pictures of the Eagles nest this year. It is a little different than last year, but the idea is the same. Kindergarten students were learning about the National Bird, so to give them an idea of the true size of an eagle's nest, I build a life size nest in the media center. It is always a huge hit! Everyone loves to take a look. The kindergartners get to sit in it for a non fiction book about eagles and one of my favorite fiction stories: The Perfect Nest. The first graders act so grown up and say, "We did that last year!"
