Kindergarten classes were learning about national symbols and one of the symbols they were learning about was the bald eagle. Even as an adult, I have a always had a hard time grasping the size of an actual eagle's nest. To help the kindergarteners (and really everyone at school) get a sense of the size of those majestic bird's nests, I built a life size replica in the story area. Each class got to carefully sit inside the nest as we read informational books about our national bird. We then read a fun book, one of my favorites, called The Perfect Nest. It was an experience we will all remember!

Last week I had one of those weeks where I am feel so happy and lucky to be where I am! Thanks to Cobb EMC, we were able to have 2 visiting authors. We had a wonderful author come on Monday to get our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders excited about writing! Her name is Jenny Cotes and she shared with us how to add details to our writing that will amaze and dazzle out audience. Her love of writing was contagious! Those students will always remember that we don't want to write black coat stories! On Wednesday, we had the privilege of meeting Brain Lies, famed author and illustrator! He spoke with all the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders. To prepare for his visit, we made bats to decorate our library. His books, Bats at the Library, Bats at the Beach, and Bats at the Ballgame are a big hit with the students. He shared a picture that he drew when he was a 2nd grader. and taught us all that "practice makes better!" We were so excited to have had the chance to hear such great authors shore their secrets with us! Thank you Cobb EMC!!! Tuesday I had the privilege of enjoying a beautiful breakfast and exciting pep rally to celebrate the teachers of the year. It was such a wonderful experience to feel the joy and excitement that everyone had for all of our hard working teachers in the county.

Mrs. PszczolaI have wanted to be a teacher since I was in 2nd grade, but I have always loved visiting the library. After teaching for 11 years, it was time to follow my heart- straight to the library! I love books!! I read as often as I can, all kinds of books. One of my proudest accomplishments is raising four amazing, book loving children. Archives
